Travel Agents Are Alive And Well

Travel agents are alive and well

After years of booking flights and other travel arrangements on-line I have returned to my neighborhood travel agent. The thrill of saving money by searching for the best deals has finally been replaced by hours of frustration. It seems that the easier it became to book your own travel arrangements on-line, the more difficult it became.

I don't know when it first happened, but the first time I found a cheaper flight with the airline than I could find with any of the discount travel services I thought I was lucky. The second time I found one, I thought I should include the airlines in my regular searches and not just rely on discount travel websites. Once I did that, everything just took longer and longer.

So, now I am back to my travel agent. I give her my details, let her know where I can be flexible and leave it all in her capable hands. A short time later, I get an email asking me to confirm her pending arrangements - and they have always been great, and voila! All done. I couldn't do it better myself.

Probably the most famous attraction in Peru is the Incan ruins of Machu Picchu - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Referred to as The Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu is perhaps the most familiar icon of the Inca World.

To the more adventurous, don't be satisfied just admiring the wonders of Machu Picchu...why not hike the Inca Trail? The Inca Trail hike is a 30-mile hike through the Andes Mountains. The hike takes place at high altitude, topping out at around 13,750 feet above sea level and ends at the spectacular Machu Picchu Incan ruins.

Beware though that the Inca Trail is no hike for amateurs and the faint-hearted. One has to be physically prepared and trained for it.

As part of the "Soccer for Children - Breaking Borders" program, representatives of New York Red Bulls and the New York City Police Department will travel to Peru to help children through soccer.

The program's goal is to visit countries in South and Central America, conduct soccer clinics for needy children and hope that the modest donation may bring a positive message in the lives of these children.

The group will be in Peru for the duration of May 18 through May 26, visiting the Peruvian capital of Lima and its surroundings. They will visit schools and orphanages in poor areas to implement the grants.

Soccer is the most important game in Peru, so the delegation will definitely get a tremendous response from the children of Peru.
